Porcelain Veneers & Cosmetic Dentistry
PORCELAIN VENEERS ARE SOPHISTICATED COSMETIC DENTISTRY TECHNIQUES LIKE “FALSE FINGERNAILS” OF THIN PORCELAIN THAT ARE FABRICATED TO FIT INDIVIDUAL TEETH.
THEY CAN BE USED TO PERMANENTLY CHANGE THE COLOUR OF TEETH, TO CLOSE GAPS, ADD LENGTH, AND CHANGE THE SHAPE OF TEETH.
When bleaching will not give the desired “white” result.
When a permanent solution is desired.
When you want a change in tooth shape as well as whitening.
The teeth to be restored with porcelain veneers will be numbed and their front surface is then “roughened”. A mould is made of the teeth, and the porcelain veneers are then fabricated in a Dental Laboratory in Sydney that specialises in this cosmetic dentistry procedure.
In the second appointment at our Central Coast clinic, the porcelain veneers are cemented to the teeth with a special dental adhesive.
Porcelain veneers may need replacement every 10 – 15 years, but each case is different.
They cannot be used to fix very worn or broken down teeth.
